J. Basilio Heredia

Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo Mexico

Senior Researcher at the CONACYT-Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo (Center for Research in Food and Development), at Culiacán, México; since 1996, an active member of the Food Science and Technology Group. He teaches the Phytochemistry, Food Antioxidants and Plant Physiology courses. He has been the major professor of 20 MS and 7 PhD graduate students. He has published over 130 research articles, 20 book chapters, 4 books, and more than 100 conference proceedings at national and international conferences. He is a constant reviewer of journal articles (JCR) and projects for national and international funding agencies. Dr. Heredia is an active member of the Mexican CONACYT National Reviewer Board and other academic societies. He is a member of the Bio-Red, Somech, IFT and has been recognized in the Mexican National Research System (SNI) since 2009. His research lines are Postharvest Physiology and Technology, Secondary Plant Metabolism, Stress and Molecular Signaling (Metabolomics), Nutraceuticals and Functional Food Science and Technology (Conventional and Emerging), Plant Bioresources as Source for Antioxidants and Bioactive Compounds. He has extension projects with companies in the Food Agro-Industrial Area; Dr. Heredia has carried out projects with National and International Funding Agencies, such as Mexican SADER, FOMIX, SE-PYME, UC Mexus, TAMU-Conacyt, PEI-Innovation and other Industry funds. He collaborates with Colleagues from Institutions and Universities from Mexico, the USA, Canada, and Spain.
